The spring is one of the most popular times in Florence. It is also when the largest amount of tourists arrive. One of the most iconic things to eat while here is gelato, but due to its popularity, there are lots of shops that are not as good as others. A large amount of gelato shops use ice and air to amp up their gelato to make it look more appetizing, but it in turn changes the flavor and value of the gelato itself. It can be quite overwhelming to try and find the best ones on your own, so here are….


1. Gelateria la Carraia

Creamy, soft, and flavorful gelato with a reasonable price tag and large portions.

Location: Piazza Sauro Nazario, 25/R of Ponte alla Carraia on the Oltrarno side and Carraia 2 on Via dei Benci.

2. Amorino

Originally established in 2002, Amorino offers original Italian gelato served with a spatula without limits and a variety in choices of flavors. 

Location: Via Del Corso 44/46R

3. Cantina del Gelato

Gelato with a view! Right across the Arno river from the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio.

Location: Via dei Bardi 31 and Borgo La Croce

4. Gelateria Vivaldi

Wonderful Gelateria with a beautiful space to sit either outside or inside and even better gelato. 

Location: Via Dei Renai, 15 

5. Gelateria Dei Neri

Right near Piazza Santa Croce lies this Gelateria with a huge selection! From fruit gelato to chocolate and caramel, you have many creamy choices to choose amongst.

6. La Strega Nocciola 

With original homemade flavors, La Strega is a gem with fantastic artisanal gelato with amazing service. 

 Location: Via De’ Bardi, 51 

7. Grom

Naturally made gelato with rotating seasonal flavors.

Location: Via del Campanile (to the right of the Duomo)

8. Gelateria Edoardo 

Known for there homemade cones, this Gelateria lies right next to El Duomo so that you can enjoy the beautiful view with some amazing gelato.

9. Le Botteghe Di Leonardo 

If you are after a healthier gelato made with natural, high quality ingredients this is the perfect place for you. 

Location: Via De’ Ginori, 21/R

10. Venchi

Started in the 1800s by a chocolate maker, that has since turned into a gelato legend.

Location: Via dei Calzaiuoli, 65
